Embrace, no disgrace

Members of our co-production panel as well as HF Workers Kim Spencer and Shajahan Noor have written, produced and recorded a song aimed at breaking the stigma around rough sleeping and homelessness.

Panel members contributed their experiences of being judged and labelled by services, their own families and the public which were then turned into lyrics by our ‘resident’ coproduction poet Lisa!

After months of work putting the lyrics to music and rehearsals to ensure the song felt polished, HF workers Saj and Kim headed into a recording studio with panel members Lisa and Sophie to record vocals for the track.

The end result is a fantastic, powerful song full of joy and hope with a bit of attitude thrown in! The song is available now to stream on  Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music – just search Embrace No Disgrace - or Play the track here

On Wednesday, September 10 Lisa, Saj, Kim and Dan were guests on ALL FM radio to talk about the song and give it its ‘first play’.

The radio show, hosted by Mark who is a resident of Great Places supported housing scheme The Docherty Project, explores the process of putting the song together and you can hear from Lisa what a huge impact the process has had on her. Mark also plays some of the co-production panels favourite songs throughout.
